SCHINAYDER is a bright eleven year old from the village of Galette Chambon who lives with his father, five sisters, and three brothers. His father is a farmer in the village and his mother is deceased. He does not know when his birthday is, so we listed it as June 2013. He said that his mother probably remembered when he was born, but his father could not remember and his mother died four years ago. For years, Schinayder has simply worked in the field with his father, planning to follow in his father’s footsteps as an illiterate farmer in the village. He knew his father could not afford to send him to school, so he just never asked. When one of the professors from the village saw him out of school one day with dirty clothes and hands, he asked him why he wasn’t in school. He said that his father couldn’t afford it. The professor asked him if he WANTED to go to school. His face immediately lit up with hope and he said YES! So the professor took him to the school and tested him to see what grade he would be in. He tested on the 2nd grade level. This was actually surprising since he had never been to school. He said that his sister had taught him to read and write a little from her school books. So the professor asked the director if Schinayder could go to school just January to July of this year in hopes of finding a sponsor. The director agreed and Schinayder has LOVED it. He has excelled so quickly. He wants desperately to go to school in the fall. He knows he is a lot older than all of the other 2nd graders, but he thinks he will move up fast if he works hard. His favorite subject is mathematics and he says that when he grows up, he wants to be a professor just like the one who helped him get into school.
