David is an ambitious and hardworking 18-year-old student in the ninth grade at BGM High School. Although he is older than many of his classmates, David has remained committed to his education despite significant challenges. Because his parents could not afford to send all of their children to school at the same time, David and his siblings have had to take turns attending school so that each child has the opportunity to learn to read and write.
David lives in the village of Bonet with his parents, four brothers, and one sister. Each school day, he joins a group of students who walk from Bonet to Galette-Chambon to attend classes at BGM High School. The journey to school takes about 45 minutes to an hour, and after classes end around 5:30 in the evening, they walk home together.
His parents work as vendors in the local market and work hard to provide for their family. While they are able to earn enough to meet basic needs and feed their children, they do not make enough to cover school expenses for everyone. David has been able to attend school for the last several years, but his parents hope to send his sister to school next. Sponsorship for David would ease the family’s financial burden and make it possible for his sister to begin her education as well.
When David is not in school, he enjoys studying and practicing piano at his church. He is dedicated to building a bright future and has big dreams for his life. His favorite subject in school is citizenship, and he hopes to become an attorney one day. He also has a passion for music and would love to continue serving as a musician in his church while pursuing a legal career. Sponsorship would help David continue working toward these goals and create opportunities for both himself and his family.
