Jessica Cassandlie is a 17-year-old student in the 9th grade at BGM High School. She currently lives with her best friend’s family, along with her two sisters and three brothers. After Jessica’s father left Haiti to seek work in another country so he could support his children, family friends graciously opened their home to Jessica and her siblings. The family caring for them are vendors in the local market, but they struggle to provide for their own children, making it extremely difficult to cover Jessica’s school expenses as well.

Because of her family’s financial hardship, Jessica was unable to attend school for the past two years after her father left Haiti. Recently, her father was able to send enough money for her to return to school, and she is now working hard in the 9th grade as she prepares for her national exams. Despite being two years behind, Jessica is determined to succeed. When she isn’t in class, she spends her time studying so she can catch up with her classmates. English is her favorite subject, and she dreams of becoming a nurse so she can care for others in her community.

Jessica’s determination and love of learning are inspiring, but she needs the support of a sponsor to continue her education. A sponsorship would give her the opportunity to stay in school, pursue her dream, and build a brighter future.
