Marie Guivelor is a determined seventh-grade student at BGM High School who dreams of building a better future through education. She lives in the village of Bojé with her parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Her parents work as market vendors, doing everything they can to provide for their large family despite limited income.

Each school day requires an enormous sacrifice from Marie and her parents. Because BGM High School is so far away, they walk with her nearly three hours to school each morning. While Marie attends classes, her parents spend the day walking through the village of Gallette-Chambon selling their goods before returning to meet her after school around 5:00–5:30 p.m. They then walk the long journey home together, as they do not want Marie traveling alone after dark.

Although Marie’s parents deeply value education, supporting seven children makes it impossible to send all of them to school. They are especially hopeful that Marie can continue her education now that she has reached high school, and sponsorship would help ease the financial burden on the family. It could also allow them to begin saving so another sibling may one day attend school as well.

Marie is a hardworking and dedicated student whose favorite activity outside of school is studying. She works diligently to earn good grades, and French is her favorite subject. When she grows up, Marie hopes to become a nurse so she can care for others and make a meaningful difference in her community.
