Venel is a happy little five year old from the village of Gros Balanse near Galette Chambon. He lives with his mother, two sisters, and one brother. His mother is a vendor in the local market. Her income has suffered tremendously in the recent chaos of Haiti and she has barely been able to make enough money to put food on the table. If it weren’t for the BGM food distributions over the last year, she believes that her children might have starved. She believes that if her son can get a sponsorship, this will not only provide him with a good education, but it will also give him an opportunity to eat every day. This will provide a huge relief to his mother. She prays daily that he will find a sponsor soon. Venel enjoys playing with friends, going to church, and studying lessons. His favorite part of school is when his teacher sings learning songs with them. He learns a lot from singing! When he grows up he wants to become a doctor!
