EDELINE is an adorable seven year old from the Hope Center village also called “Calabaché”. She lives with her mother, three sisters, and two brothers. She is currently in our BGM Preschool program in K2 because she started school very late. Her family came to live in Hope Center village to escape the dangers of Port au Prince and then the danger entered the village of Galette Chambon. They have come to realize that there is no real escape from the dangers in Haiti right now. They just have to pray and do the best they can to keep to themselves and try to make life as normal as possible where they can. The family of seven doesn’t have much. They have a roof over their head and that’s about it. Edeline’s mother tries to sell food to make a little money to support the family, but it’s barely enough to put food on the table. She wants desperately for her children to go to school so that they can have a safe place to be during the day and they can eat. Edeline enjoys playing with friends on the playground, helping her siblings work around the house, and learning new things. Her favorite thing about school is learning to write her name and words on paper.When she grows up, she thinks she might want to become a nurse!
