Fifteen-year-old Mirma lives in the village of Galette Chambon, Haiti, with her parents, seven sisters, and four brothers. Her parents are hardworking vendors who do their best to provide for their large family, which includes several children they lovingly adopted after a tragic gang raid took the lives of the children’s biological parents. Life is extremely difficult for them, and with so many children to care for, they’re unsure how they’ll be able to afford school next year.
Mirma is a bright and joyful young girl who loves to study, spend time with friends, eat good food, and get plenty of sleep. Her favorite subject is mathematics, and she dreams of one day becoming a nurse so she can help others in her community. Her family is deeply grateful for the support of sponsorships that help make her education possible while they continue working hard in their garden and local market.
