YVENEL is a bright and determined 12-year-old student currently in the third grade at Maranatha Primary School. He lives with his older sister, two sisters, and two brothers. After the loss of their father several years ago, Yvenel’s older sister courageously stepped in to care for the family and has become their primary provider and support.
Yvenel’s father had long struggled with high blood pressure and diabetes and received consistent care and medication through the BGM clinic. However, after the clinic was forced to close due to gang violence in the area, he was no longer able to access the medicine he needed. Without treatment, his health declined, and he sadly passed away from a heart attack. At that time, their mother was no longer part of the family, leaving the children in the care of their older sister.
Now working as a vendor, Yvenel’s sister does all she can to provide for the household, but her income is not enough to send all of her siblings to school. Despite these challenges, Yvenel stands out as an exceptionally hardworking and focused student. Outside of school, he spends much of his time studying and completing his homework, showing a deep commitment to his education.
Yvenel’s favorite subject is mathematics, and he dreams of one day pursuing a career in medicine. Whether as a nurse, EMT, or doctor, he is inspired by the care his father once received and hopes to one day help others in the same way.
