JOUDELANDE is a determined and hardworking 18-year-old student currently in the 12th grade at BGM High School. She is just one year away from completing her education, with her final year—known as Philo—still ahead. Finishing Philo is a significant accomplishment, requiring students to pass a national exam, and is comparable to earning an associate-level degree that opens doors to better job opportunities. Joudelande is committed to finishing strong and pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse.
She lives with her parents, six brothers, and one sister in a large family that faces ongoing financial challenges. Her parents work as sharecroppers on a large farm, receiving a small income along with some of the crops they harvest to feed their family or sell at market. Despite their hard work, it is not enough to send all seven children to school, and many of Joudelande’s siblings are currently unable to attend.
Recognizing how close she is to graduating, her parents made the sacrifice to enroll her this year and cover her tuition. However, they are now seeking sponsorship for her final year so she can complete her education. This support would not only allow Joudelande to finish school, but also help ease the financial burden on her family, potentially enabling some of her siblings to attend school as well.
Outside of her studies, Joudelande enjoys helping her parents sell vegetables at the market and attending church with her family. Her favorite subject is biology, which fuels her passion for becoming a nurse and serving others in her community.
