Aicha is a bright 13-year-old girl who lives in the village of Galette-Chambon with her parents, one sister, and two brothers. She is in the fifth grade at Maranatha School and stands out as an exceptional student who truly loves to learn. Unlike many children in Haiti, Aisha is the right age for her grade, a reflection of her determination and consistent hard work.
Her parents are vendors in the local market and depend on the produce from their garden to support the family. But the journey to the market has become dangerous—bandits often target travelers, and Aicha’s parents have been robbed multiple times. This has made it nearly impossible for them to earn enough to cover school expenses.
Last year, thanks to a better market season, they were able to pay Aicha’s tuition. But things have changed, and they are now struggling. Without help, they don’t know how they’ll be able to send Aicha to school this fall.
