Dabens is a bright 17 year old who is in the 11th grade at our BGM High School. His baby sister, Stecha, is also up for sponsorship. His parents are farmers who work long, hot days in the field trying to gather enough produce to sell at a local market when it is safe enough to go. There are many weeks when the produce sits in buckets or on sheets laid out on the ground and rot because they can’t get to market. It’s during these times that they can try to eat some of the produce so that it doesn’t go to waste and their bellies can be filled. It’s great that they have this option, but it doesn’t provide money to pay for other necessities like school tuition. They were able to save up enough money to start Dabens and Stecha in school, but now they are behind on finishing their tuition for the year and don’t know how they will pay for next year. They know that God will provide, but they are praying that he will provide with a sponsor so that they won’t have to worry about whether or not they will be able to save enough to make the next payment. Dabens enjoys playing soccer, hanging out with friends, sleeping, eating, and going to church. His favorite subject in school is Spanish, and when he grows up, he wants to become a Civil Engineer.
