Dalouse is a bright eleven year old girl from the village of Galette Chambon who goes to BGM Primary in the 3rd grade. She lives with her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Her parents sell merchandise in the market near the village when they can. The dangers in the village have made it difficult to take their things to market to sell, so their income has reduced to practically nothing. They had started paying Dalouse’s tuition early on in the school year, but they have not been able to continue to pay. If Dalouse doesn’t find a sponsor by September, she probably will not be able to continue school. This makes Dalous very sad because she absolutely loves school and she is very smart. She enjoys learning and studying Creole, working around her house, studying her lessons, and playing with friends. Her favorite subject is Creole. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor.
