Woodjicka is a cheerful five-year-old who lives in Galette Chambon with her parents, three brothers, and four sisters. This fall, she hopes to begin her education at BGM Preschool in the K-2 program. As the youngest child in her family, she is excited to finally join her older siblings at school.
Woodjicka’s parents work hard to provide for their family. Her father raises a small herd of goats to sell at the local market, while her mother creates handmade yarn items, such as potholders, to earn extra income. Although they work diligently, their modest earnings make it difficult to support a family of ten. A sponsorship would not only allow Woodjicka to attend school, but it would also mean that all of the family’s children could receive a nutritious meal at school each day. This would ease a significant burden on her parents and give them more time to expand their income by growing a garden or finding additional items to sell.
Woodjicka loves playing with her friends. She enjoys jumping rope, playing hopscotch, and traditional games with rocks. She is especially excited to begin school because she looks forward to learning pré-écriture (pre-writing), where she will practice writing the alphabet, learn to write her name, and begin reading. One day, Woodjicka dreams of becoming a kindergarten teacher. She has heard how kind and caring her teachers are, and she hopes to one day help the young children in her own village learn and grow just as they helped her.
