Lowens is a 12-year-old boy from the village of Bonet who hopes to begin the second grade at BGM Primary School this fall. When school begins, he will walk about an hour each morning and afternoon with a group of children from his village who travel together to and from school.

Lowens lives with his aunt and her three children—two girls and one boy—who are his cousins. When Lowens was six years old, his father passed away, and his mother struggled with severe depression before eventually leaving the village. He has not seen or heard from her since then. His aunt lovingly welcomed him into her home and has raised him as one of her own children.

His aunt works tirelessly to provide for the family. She grows vegetables in a small garden behind their home and sells the harvest at the local market. When her own garden does not produce enough, she often earns vegetables from neighbors by helping with household chores, such as washing clothes or dishes, so she has something to sell at the market. Despite her hard work, providing for the family and paying school tuition has become increasingly difficult.

Because of these financial hardships, Lowens has been out of school since he was seven years old. Although he is now 12, he plans to begin the second grade this fall and hopes to take a placement test that will allow him to advance more quickly as he catches up. His favorite subject is mathematics, and he dreams of one day becoming a teacher so he can help other children in his village build a brighter future through education, just as his own teachers have inspired him.

A sponsorship would give Lowens the opportunity to return to school, continue his education, and pursue his dream of helping the next generation of children in his community.
