David is a bright and eager seven-year-old who will begin K-3 at Maranatha School this fall. He lives in Galette Chambon with his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. His parents work as vendors in the local market, but rising costs, dangerous travel to and from the market, illegal road taxes, and higher prices for the goods they purchase to sell have placed a heavy financial burden on their family. They are seeking a sponsor for David so he can begin school without adding to their financial strain.
Education is very important to David’s family. Now that he is old enough to attend school, they hope he can spend his days learning instead of accompanying them to the market. David already has a love for learning and enjoys studying at home. Mathematics is his favorite subject—he loves to count and has already learned how to add and subtract. He is excited to learn even more when school begins this fall. When he grows up, David hopes to become a teacher so he can inspire and educate children in his own village, just as his teacher has inspired him.
