Laina’s mother is a courageous entrepreneur who was forced to start over after being rejected by her family. She runs a small business cooking and selling meals to local workers. While her business sense is strong, the income is only enough to cover their most basic needs. Because she is on her own, she must take Laina with her to work, which is difficult while managing hot cooking fires.
