Yvenson is a young man who understands the value of labor. When he isn’t in the classroom, he spends much of his time working with his father in the family garden. Agriculture is the lifeline for many in Galette Chambon, and Yvenson takes pride in helping his father tend to the crops that sustain their family of eight. This hands-on experience has given him a strong work ethic and a practical understanding of how things grow and are built. Despite his responsibilities at home and in the garden, Yvenson is still a 14-year-old boy who finds joy in community. After a long day of school and chores, his favorite way to relax is playing soccer with his friends. On the village field, he can be a kid—running, competing, and enjoying the camaraderie of his peers.

In school, Yvenson is focused on mastering French. As one of Haiti’s official languages, proficiency in French is a key requirement for higher education and professional success. He knows that his favorite subject is a vital tool that will help him reach his ultimate goal of becoming an Engineer.
Yvenson is remarkably self-aware for his age. He understands that while he is currently behind in his grade level, the only way to reach the heights of engineering is through unwavering persistence. He is fully committed to the long road of education ahead, knowing that an engineering degree will allow him to design and build a better future for his community and provide long-term stability for his father and six siblings.
In 2025, the transition from primary to secondary education is where many young men in Haiti are forced to drop out due to rising costs and the pressure to work full-time. Having a sponsor in school removes the financial barriers that stand between a 4th grader and his dream of engineering. It ensures he can stay in school year-round, helping him close the age-to-grade gap more quickly. It also invests in a young man who is ready to put in the work—both in the garden and the classroom—to rebuild his nation. By sponsoring Yvenson, you are choosing to stand behind a determined young man as he works to build a life of purpose, one lesson at a time.
