WIDLINE is a bright and determined 10-year-old girl from the small village of Kadas in Haiti, near Galette-Chambon. Every day, she walks a long distance with a group of children from her village to attend BGM Primary School. Though the journey is tough, Widline never complains—she’s proud to go to a school known for its excellent education.
Born at home in 2015, Widline doesn’t know the exact date of her birth. Her life took a difficult turn when her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to her baby brother. Since then, Widline and her two brothers and a sister have been cared for by their aunt, a kind woman who teaches kindergarten at the same school Widline attends.
Even though her aunt works hard, taking care of four children, especially two who aren’t her own, is a big responsibility. Widline, aware of her aunt’s challenges, wanted to help. In a remarkable act of maturity, she approached the school administrator and asked to be part of the sponsorship program, so her aunt wouldn’t have to worry about paying her school tuition. It was a big step for someone so young, showing just how thoughtful and courageous she is.
Widline loves studying—especially mathematics—and dreams of becoming a nurse one day, inspired by older girls in her village who followed that path through BGM. When she’s not studying, she enjoys helping her aunt with chores, playing with friends, and going to church with her family. Education means everything to Widline. It gives her hope, direction, and the chance to build a brighter future—not just for herself, but for the ones she loves.
