Neika J.

Neika is a smart and sassy 14 year old, who goes to our Bgm high school and is in the eighth grade. She is from an area called Place Charles in the village of Gallette Chambon. She lives with her grandmother, two sisters, and one brother. Her parents were killed in a car accident two years ago and she had to quit school. She and her sisters and brother went to live with their grandmother at the time. Before her parents died, they were able to afford to send Neika to school. However, her grandmother does not have a source of income. Last year when Neika wanted to start school, she asked a neighbor if she could clean her house so that she could earn some money to register for school. She earned the money to register, but she did not have enough money to continue paying her tuition through the year. The principal allowed her to finish school this year, but she will not be able to register for school again if she doesn’t have a sponsor. Neika enjoys, studying, and doing chores around the house. Her favorite subject in school is French. When she grows up, she would like to become a nurse.
