Cleef is a cheerful six-year-old in the K-2 program at BGM Preschool. He lives in the village of Bojè with his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. His parents are hardworking market vendors who make an incredible sacrifice to ensure their children receive an education. Each school day, they walk three to four hours from Bojè, taking Cleef to school before continuing on to the market to sell their produce. At the end of the day, they make the long journey back to pick him up and walk home together. All of Cleef’s older siblings attend school as well, while his youngest brother stays with an aunt until he is old enough to begin school.
When Cleef is not in school, he enjoys playing with his friends and creating toys from old juice bottles, using his imagination to turn everyday items into something fun. At preschool, his favorite activity is learning to write. He was excited to master the alphabet last year and now looks forward to learning how to write his name. One day, Cleef hopes to become a middle school teacher so he can help other children discover the joy of learning. A sponsorship would ease the financial burden on his hardworking family and help ensure that Cleef can continue building a bright future through education.
