Guerline is a determined 17-year-old who recently completed the eighth grade at BGM High School. She lives in the village of Bonet with her parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Her parents are sharecroppers who work a large garden near their home. Although they are allowed to keep some of the produce they grow to feed their family or sell at the market, providing for eight children is a constant struggle, leaving little money for school tuition.
Because of these financial hardships, Guerline was forced to miss several years of school before she was finally able to return. Her family is praying that she will receive a sponsorship so she can continue her education and one day graduate from high school. If she succeeds, she will become the first person in her family to earn a high school diploma, opening doors to opportunities that have never before been possible for her family.
At home, Guerline enjoys helping with household chores and caring for her younger siblings. Her favorite subject is English, and she dreams of becoming a nurse so she can care for others in her community. A sponsorship would give Guerline the chance to continue pursuing her education and turn her dream into reality while bringing hope to her entire family.
