Dondjy is a cheerful four-year-old in the K-1 program at BGM Preschool in Haiti. He lives with his parents, who are farmers. His father is older and struggles with severe arthritis, making it difficult for him to work in the fields. As a result, Dondjy’s mother carries most of the responsibility for providing for the family while also caring for her young son. Having Dondjy in school gives her the opportunity to work in the garden and earn the income they need to survive.
When Dondjy is not at school, he enjoys playing with his friends. In the classroom, he especially loves learning through songs and happily joins in as he sings with his classmates. He dreams of becoming a doctor one day so he can help people in his community. A sponsorship would give Dondjy the opportunity to continue his education while easing the financial burden on his hardworking family.
