Eleven-year-old Woodjina lives in the village of Galette Chambon with her parents, five sisters, and two brothers. She is a bright and hopeful little girl who dreams of returning to school, but her family has been going through very difficult times.

Her parents work long hours in the garden to provide for their large family, but their income is very limited. One of Woodjina’s siblings was born very sick and suffers from frequent seizures, as well as a skin condition that causes painful hives and infections. The doctors have not yet found a clear cause, and the cost of medical care and medications has placed a heavy burden on the family. Many times, they have gone without food in order to buy medicine or pay for hospital visits.

Because of these struggles, Woodjina has not been able to attend school for the past two years. If she is able to return, she will start again in the fourth grade. She loves learning French and dreams of continuing her education so she can one day help support her family. During the summer, she hopes to attend BGM’s professional school to study cosmetology and when she grows up, she wants train to become a nurse, like some of the older girls in her village who are now pursuing college and good jobs.

Sponsorship would give Woodjina the chance to go back to school, continue her studies, and move closer to her dream of helping others and creating a better future for her family.
