Five-year-old Ritchlove lives in the village of Galette Chambon with his mother, two sisters, and two brothers. Two years ago, his father left the country in search of work to better provide for his family, but it has been very difficult for him to find employment or stability. As a result, Ritchlove’s mother has had to take on the full responsibility of caring for the children and earning an income on her own.
She works long hours in the family garden, often leaving early in the morning and returning late in the afternoon. When she is home, she tries to sell some of the produce to earn a little extra money. It has been very hard for her to manage both work and childcare, and it would be a great help if Ritchlove could attend school during the day.
Ritchlove is a joyful, energetic little boy who loves to play soccer with his friends in the village and sing with his siblings. He dreams of going to school and one day becoming a lawyer so he can help others and make a difference in his community.
