Benitha is a loving and determined nineteen year old in our BGM secondary school who is in the 7th grade because her family has not been able to afford to put more than two of their children in school at a time. Benitha has always had to wait her turn to go to school, so it has put her very far behind. She doesn’t mind though because she knows that an education is her key to a better life. She knows that she will finish one day. Benitha comes from a large family. She has five sisters and four brothers. Her parents are deceased and they all live with a family friend who agreed to take the siblings in after their parents died. Their caregiver works in a local garden as a share cropper and she takes some of the produce she gets to keep to market to sell. She makes a little money doing this, but not nearly enough to take care of ten children and send them all to school. When Benitha is not in school, she loves to study. She is thankful that she has a good school that she can go to that will prepare her for the future. Her favorite subject in school is Spanish, and when she grows up, she wants to become a nurse.
