Dawensky is one of a set of twin boys belonging to Henry, our local tailor who makes all of our school uniforms. Dawensky lives with his uncle and three brothers in Hope Center village in Galette Chambon. His father is Henry who owns the tailor shop that makes all of our uniforms. Five years ago, Henry had to leave Haiti because the local gang was threatening his life because he was a business owner. Although Henry makes a good living, it is not easy to provide for his family while living in Brazil and trying to save money to get all of his children visas to join him in Brazil. He has managed to get two of them over, but he is still working on the process to get Dawensky and his brothers over. In the meantime, Henry’s brother helps him run the tailor business as well as taking care of the boys. It is very difficult for him because he has children of his own to provide for.
Dawensky enjoys playing with his siblings and friends and learning new things. He looks forward to learning how to speak French in school. He is not completely sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but for now, he thinks he might want to become a doctor.
