Chekina is in K3 at BGM’s Maranatha School. She lives with her parents, two sisters, and three brothers in the village of Galette Chambon. Her other siblings have sponsors, but now that Chekina is old enough for school, her parents are hoping she will find a sponsor as well soon so that she does not get behind in school like so many children do in the village when their parents cannot afford to pay for their school. Her parents work hard to make money to provide for their family, but it just isn’t enough. Her father works in a local garden as a farmer and her mother is a vendor at the local market. Chekina loves to play with her friends and sing. She is not sure what she wants to be when she grows up, but she thinks it would be fun to be able to sing for a living. Singing makes her so happy!
