Iselande is a quiet thirteen year old from the area of Place Charles in the village of Galette Chambon. She lives with her parents, four sisters, and six brothers. Her father works as a mason and he makes a decent income when he is able to find work. The economy has been really bad for the last two years though, so he has not been able to support the family. They desperately want to find a sponsor for Iselande so that she doesn’t have to sit out of school. She missed the last two years of school because they couldn’t afford it, but they don’t want her to get any farther behind. Iselande enjoys studying lessons and doing homework. She also enjoys helping her mother clean around the house and take care of her younger siblings. Her favorite subject is mathematics. She doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. For now she just wants a chance to continue school.
