Youfaika is a bright and joyful three-year-old who attends the K-1 program at BGM Preschool. She lives in the village of Ti Mache with her parents, her brother, and her twin sister. Each school day, the journey to and from school takes about three hours on foot, but her parents gladly make the trip because they know education will give their children hope for a brighter future.
Youfaika’s parents work hard in a small garden near their home, growing produce that they carry to the market to sell. Last year, they saved enough money to send all three of their school-aged children to school, including Youfaika and her twin sister. Having the children in school allowed both parents to spend more time working in the garden and selling their crops. However, rising financial hardships have made it impossible for them to continue paying tuition for all of their children while also providing food for the family. They are praying that Youfaika and her twin sister will each receive a sponsor so they can continue their education.
Youfaika is an eager learner who quickly learned to write her alphabet and her own name during her first year of preschool. Her favorite class is pré-écriture (pre-writing), where she practices holding a pencil correctly and copying letters from the board. She enjoys learning new things and is excited to continue developing her reading and writing skills.
One day, Youfaika hopes to become a nurse. After visiting the But God Ministries Hope Center Clinic for her vaccinations, she was deeply touched by the kindness and gentle care of the nurse who helped calm her fears. That experience inspired her dream of becoming a nurse so she can comfort other children and help them feel safe when they need medical care. A sponsorship would give Youfaika the opportunity to continue her education while giving her family the support they need to build a brighter future.
