Marjorie is a very bright fifteen year old from the village of Galette Chambon who lives with her uncle, two sisters, and three brothers. Her uncle is a farmer who takes his produce to market. For several years, Marjorie helped her uncle at market, but going to market became too dangerous for a young girl, so she stayed home. She asked her uncle if she could go back to school since she couldn’t go to market. He was able to pay for her registration, but has not been able to pay any more than that. She must have a sponsor to continue school. Marjorie enjoys going to community lectures, she loves to sew, and she loves to go to church with her siblings. Her favorite subjects in school are Spanish, French, and Biology. She wants to be a journalist when she grows up.
