Salienda is a bright nineteen year old who is in the 12th grade at BGM High School. She lives with her mother, two sisters, and two brothers in the village of Bwa Blan up the mountain from Galette Chambon. Her mother is a vendor in the local market. After their father died, Salienda dropped out of school for two years to help her mother with the children. However, her mother desperately wants her daughter to finish school, so she paid her registration this year to get her back in school. She has not been able to afford to pay the rest of tuition though. If Salienda is to finish school, she must have a sponsor. Salienda enjoys going to community lectures, working around the house, and sleeping. Her favorite subjects in school are English and French. When she grows up she wants to become a nurse.
