Wolphord is a bright and considerate young man who lives in the village of Galette Chambon. He lives with his parents, one brother and two sisters. His father works as a professor in a local school, but he doesn’t make much money and he never knows when he will be paid. Schools all over Haiti are struggling to stay afloat if they are not sponsored by an American organization. Those that are completely dependent upon students paying tuition just don’t make enough to be able to pay their employees. Wolphord’s father continues to teach the children in his school, but it is really hard when months and months go by without being paid. He would like to have a job as a teacher in one of the BGM schools, but there have not been any openings in a long time. Wolphord has now missed two years of school because his father couldn’t pay tuition. That’s why he wants to enroll in the BGM Primary school. If he can get a sponsorship, he can go to school and his father won’t have to worry about paying tuition. Wolphord enjoys working around the house, doing homework, going to church, playing with friends, and sleeping and eating. His favorite subject is Mathematics, and when he grows up, he wants to become a doctor.
