Merlanda is a fifteen year old from the village of Ti Source near Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother, four sisters, and two brothers. As a single mom, her mother works hard to support her family but she struggles terribly to put food on the table much less send her children to school. Merlanda’s family depends on the generosity of other families in the village to survive. It is very important to her mother that she goes to school, so she asked that we put her into the program to search for a sponsor. Merlanda enjoys going to church, working around the house, and studying lessons. Her favorite subject is phuysical science, and when she grows up, she wants to become a nurse.
