CHEDENAELLE is a sweet little 8 year old from the village of Bwa Jakè near Galette Chambon. She lives with her parents, two sisters, and one brother. She has not been able to go to school for the last two years, but she has continued to study lessons with friends and has tested for entrance into the 4th grade if she gets a sponsor. She is so smart, and she knows how important school is to her future because she wants to become a nurse. Her parents are vendors in the local market, but they don’t make enough money to pay for tuition to go to school. They desperately want their children to go to school because they want their kids to have hope for their future, but it just hasn’t been possible since the economy become so bad. Chedenaelle’s favorite thing to study is mathematics and her favorite things to do are study lessons, go to church, and play with friends.
