Daphca is a twelve year old girl that lives in an area called Plachal in Galette Chambon with her parents, sister, and four brothers. Her parents are vendors in the local market, but as with all other vendors, their business is suffering due to insecurity in their country and rising prices. They struggle to feed their families because they can no longer make nearly the money they used to make to provide for their families. Daphca’s parents have decided that if she does not find a sponsor soon, she will have to withdraw from school. She desperately wants to find a sponsor so that she can stay in school. Daphca’s favorite subject in school is mathematics. When she’s not in school, she enjoys helping her mother sell things, working around the house, studying, and hanging out with friends. When she grows up she would like to become a nurse.
