Tacheline is a very bright seven year old from the village of Gros-Balance. She lives with her step-mother and her four sisters and three brothers. Her step-mother works in a local garden as a share cropper and her father is deceased. She was going to another school last year before her father died, but when he died, they also lost his income and could not afford to pay for school. Her step-mother was able to pay enough to register Tacheline and pay the first installment of tuition at BGM Primary, but she is praying that she gets a sponsor before she has to pay any more. Tacheline loves to study lessons with her friends and play school. She does not know what she wants to do when she grows up yet. She is just happy to be able to go to school.
