Kerlande is a precious, happy little five year old from Hope Center village. She lives with her mother and brother and her mother does not have a source of income. She sometimes try to clean peoples houses to make a little money, but it’s really not enough to support her family. She wants desperately for her children to be able to go to school. She doesn’t want them to get behind in school like so many other Haitian children in the village. Little Kerlande wants to go to school soooo badly too. She likes to borrow the books of her neighbors who go to school and they try to teach her to write her name and read. She doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. She just wants to go to school.
