Fadjooly is an eleven year old girl from a village called Haté Cotin. It’s a small community on the outskirts of Galette Chambon. She lives with her parents and two sisters. Her father is a mason and he does independent contract work when he is able to find work. Finding work in Haiti is not easy though, especially for an independent contractor during difficult days. He wants his daughter to get a good education, and he is willing to walk her to school a long way every day if it means she can find a sponsor and go for free. He might not be able to give his daughter expensive things, but if he can help her get an education, the long walk every day will be worth it. Fadjooly loves to help her mother around the house by washing dishes and going to get water at the community well. She also loves mathematics. When she grows up, she wants to become a nurse.
