Bukendo is a bright and energetic thirteen year old from the village of Galette Chambon. He lives with his parents, three sisters, and ten brothers. His parents do not have a very reliable source of income because the farm as share croppers and they barely make enough money to feed their family. They are thankful for the sponsorship program so that their children can go to school and eat a good meal daily at school. Most days, this is the only meal they will get. Sometimes the children take a small vessel with them to school and they save some of their food to take home to their parents. They are hopeful that their children will get a good education through the BGM Sponsorship program and find jobs that can make it possible to provide for their families one day. Bukendo loves school and he is hopeful that he can find a sponsor so that he can continue to go to school. He enjoys going to church with his family, praying, working with his father in the fields, studying, and playing soccer. When he grows up, he wants to become a doctor.
