STEIKA HAD TO EVACUATE THE VILLAGE WITH HER FAMILY IN 2023 AFTER THE VILLAGE WAS ATTACKED BY THE GANG. HER PARENTS WERE UNABLE TO FIND WORK IN THE AREA WHERE THEY MOVED, SO THEY RETURNED TO GALETTE CHAMBON IN JANUARY 2024. STEIKA NEEDS A SPONSOR IF SHE IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO RETURN TO SCHOOL. THE PHOTO ABOVE AND THE BIO INFORMATION IS FROM 2020 WHEN SHE FIRST ENTERED THE PROGRAM.

Steika is a bright FOURTEEN year old from the village of Place Charles near Galette Chambon. She lives with her parents and brother and sister. Her father works as a teacher in a local school and he works as a mason on the side. He makes a decent amount of money working these two jobs, however, it is still difficult to make ends meet because he also supports his elderly parents. It would be a lot easier to support their medical needs if Steika had a sponsor. She has also begged him to let her look for a sponsor so that she can be like so many of the other kids in the school who have a sponsor. They get gifts from their sponsor and they talk all the time about the person in the US that prays for them. She wishes she could have that too. Steika enjoys helping her mother clean the house and studying. When she grows up, she wants to learn to be a cook. Her favorite subject in school is French.

**Please note that each year, we depend on village volunteers whose understanding of the measuring process may create variations in accuracy. Often times, children do not know their age or birthday, and sometimes they measure smaller or larger because of illness. We do the best we can to give accurate updates, but there are cultural constraints that we cannot avoid. Also, these measurements were made in March of 2022. The child may or may not have promoted to the next grade by the 2022-2023 school year. Final exams had not been taken when the update was made. You can assume that the child will move on to the next grade up, but it is not guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.
