Melissa is a 7 year old in the 1st grade at BGM Primary School. She lives with her parents and sister in the village of Galette Chambon. Her father is handicapped, so he is unable to work, and her mother is a vendor at the local market. Although her mother does make some money as a vendor, her father’s hospital bills often take precedence over the family income. They moved to Galette Chambon last year with hopes of getting Melissa in the new BGM primary school where there is a sponsorship program and a feeding program. This will help the family tremendously. Melissa enjoys playing with friends, studying her lessons, doing homework, and cleaning the house. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics, and when she grows up, she wants to learn economics and become a financial planner in a big city.

We do the best we can to give accurate updates, but there are cultural constraints that we cannot avoid. Also, these measurements were made in March of 2022. The child may or may not have promoted to the next grade by the 2022-2023 school year. Final exams had not been taken when the update was made.
