Nerline is a fifteen year old from the village of Gros Balanse who has big plans for her future. She wants to learn English and become a nurse so she can work in a hospital and also translate for American doctors who come help the people of her country. She lives with her mother, two sisters, and two brothers. Her mother sells the little water bags throughout the village to try to make ends meet. It isn’t enough to send all of her children to school. This year Nerline was able to go to school and she is determined to continue. Her favorite subjects are English and History. When she isn’t in school, she helps her mother sell and studies her lessons. She loves her school and her friends and she is so thankful that she has a good school to go to.
