Jovensly is a sweet little six year old from the village of Galette Chambon. He lives with his mother, father, and siblings in a small dirt house. His parents are farmers, but they don’t make much money. He is very thankful to have a sponsor so that he can get a hot meal every day at school. He is also thankful that he is learning to read and learn other things. His parents were never able to go to school, and neither one of them can read. Jovensly hopes to one day become a teacher and he wants to teach his parents how to read.

Often times, children do not know their age or birthday, and sometimes they measure smaller or larger because of illness. We do the best we can to give accurate updates, but there are cultural constraints that we cannot avoid. Also, these measurements were made in March of 2022. The child may or may not have promoted to the next grade by the 2022-2023 school year. Final exams had not been taken when the update was made.
