Gaëlle is a timid little four year old from the village of Place Charles near Galette Chambon. She lives with her father and brother who is older than her. Her mother died not long after giving birth to her at her house. He father would really love to be able to put Gaelle in school now so that she can get a head start in school and get a good education. Although he does make a little money as a farmer, he has to pay a neighbor to watch his two children while he works in the garden. He cannot afford to pay for two children to go to school. He says that he believes that the child sponsorship program of BGM is an answer to the prayers of many parents in this village who have asked God to make a way for their children to get a good education and a nutritious meal. “When our kids can go to school and eat too, that takes a big burden off of the parents who are struggling to make it every day,” he says. Gaëlle doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up, and she is a little nervous about going to school, but she knows her brother will be there with her and she really wants to go.
