Djenie is a quiet little seven year old from the village of Gwo Balanse near Galette Chambon. She has two brothers and they all live with their parents who keep a garden so they can sell produce in the market to feed and provide for their family. Djenie is excited about being able to go to school like her older brothers. She is hoping she can find a sponsor so that they can all continue to go to school because their parents can’t afford for all of them to go to school at the same time. She thinks she wants to become a nurse or a teacher one day. Her favorite subject in school is Creole and when she’s not in school she likes to play with her friends and her puppy.
