Virginia Moliere is thirteen years old and she lives in a village called Nan Dal near Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother, father, and five sisters and three brothers. Neither of her parents have steady jobs. Her mother tries to sell things and her father tries to find work as a share cropper, but with the latest draught, it has been hard to find work. Sometimes Virginia tries to help her mother by finding people that will let her clean their house to make some money. It is very hard though. Most of the time people do not have money to pay her for work. She is happy that Professor Salomon has put her in the sponsorship program and is allowing her to come to school. She hopes she will find a sponsor soon. In the meantime, she is happy that she can learn and get a hot meal at school every day. Virginia loves to learn math at school and she hopes to be a teacher one day so she can help others learn too!!
