Shelda is a bright and energetic eleven year old who lives in the village of Galette Chambon with her mother, step father, two sisters, and three brothers. Her step-father sometimes finds work as a brick mason, but he doesn’t have a steady source of income. Shelda’s mother recently found a job at BGM Primary school as a custodian’s helper. She is very excited that her mother was able to get this job, but she still doesn’t make much money. She does make enough to help feed the family, but not enough to pay all of her siblings’ school tuition. Shelda loves to play with her friends and siblings and help her mother clean house. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

**Please note that each year, we depend on village volunteers whose understanding of the measuring process may create variations in accuracy. Often times, children do not know their age or birthday, and sometimes they measure smaller or larger because of illness. We do the best we can to give accurate updates, but there are cultural constraints that we cannot avoid. Also, these measurements were made in March of 2022. The child may or may not have promoted to the next grade by the 2022-2023 school year. Final exams had not been taken when the update was made.
