Sarah is a sassy little six year old from the village of Placement in Galette Chambon. She lives with her mother who does not have a source of income at this time. Her mother was never able to go to school when she was a girl because she had a big family and her parents were uneducated and most of the time unemployed. Her mother wants greater things for her little girl because she is bright and confident and determined. She was able to clean some houses in order to make enough money to pay the deposit for Sarah’s school this year, but if she doesn’t get a sponsor by January, she will have to withdraw from school because her mother will not be able to make the payment. Sarah says that she prays every day for a sponsor so that her mother doesn’t have to worry about how she will go to school. Sara enjoys doing homework, helping her mother cook, and studying her lessons. Her favorite subject is Kreyol and when she grows up, she wants to be a nurse.
