Schama is a seven year old little girl from the village of Galette Chambon. She started school when she was five, but she was only allowed to go to school for one year. Last year, her mother died suddenly from typhoid fever, and after that, Shama’s father told her she could no longer go to school. He said that he could not help her get ready for school every day. Schama has three sisters and three brothers who are all older than her. She says that because she can’t go to school, she cleans the house every day and then plays by herself. She has dreams of becoming a nurse one day, but right now she is not very hopeful. She says she prays every day that she will get a sponsor so she can return to school and follow her dreams.
