KERVENS is a bright and energetic 13-year-old boy who was born in January 2012, just two days before the great earthquake in Haiti. He lives with his parents, sister, and brother in the rural village of Galette-Chambon. Kervens is currently in the third grade at BGM Primary School, where he enjoys learning—especially his favorite subject, mathematics. We call him “Kervens 2” because there is another boy in the school named Kervens as well and they even have the same last name!

Kervens comes from a hardworking family. His parents are farmers who rely on selling their produce at the local market to earn a living. However, in recent times, life has become increasingly difficult for Kervens and his family due to ongoing civil unrest in the country. The roads to market have become dangerous, with bandits frequently attacking vendors and stealing their goods. As a result, Kervens’s parents have not been able to sell their crops as often, making it hard to earn enough money to support the family and pay for their children’s education.

Despite these challenges, Kervens remains hopeful and determined. He enjoys playing soccer with his friends, studying hard in school, and helping his parents on the farm whenever he can. Kervens dreams of becoming a mechanic one day—a goal he holds onto with great passion and perseverance, even in the face of adversity.
